It takes a lot of dedication and commitment to work out consistently, day in and day out. But even the toughest and most committed workout warriors get tired of their fitness routines. How can you keep motivated and not get frustrated? Here are five great ways to fire up your workout:
Assuming you are a healthy individual and have not sustained any structural injuries, running is a great addition to your daily gym workouts. Get out for 30 minutes two to three times a week and run your heart out. Your body and your mind will thank you for it.
Jump ropes travel well. This is one training tool you can take with you anywhere. It’s easy to pack in a suitcase when you travel, and it requires very little space to perform. If you are a beginner, jump for 45 seconds, rest for 2 minutes, and work your way up to 10 minutes. You can increase the intensity by increasing the number of jumps for a specific time interval.
Our bodies get used to performing the same movement patterns every day, which is a great way to set up for an injury. Go to your local park and do pull-ups, push-ups, dips, lunges, and anything that’s different from your normal gym routine.
When you have a specific, measurable way to record your progress, whether its reps, sets, weights, or miles, you will be more likely to stick to a plan and work harder to achieve new highs. Keep a small notebook to jot down details about your training and keep track of your energy levels.
Do the same thing with a nutrition log. You will be surprised to know that some foods are energy suckers, while other foods allow you to function optimally throughout the day. Keeping a food log is also a great way to be honest about your eating habits.
Signing up for an event is a great way to hold yourself accountable to working out. You have a goal to strive towards and working out can be a lot more fun if you are training for something specific. Start by signing up for a local 5k, 10k, or obstacle race.
As you can see, working out does not need to be boring. Variety is the spice of life, so spice up your workout today!
